Advocate Micheal Daniel Speelman was called to the Bar in 2025. He maintains a broad general practice with practical experience across civil, commercial, banking, property, administrative, public and labour law matters.
His civil litigation practice includes contractual disputes, delictual claims for general damages, medical malpractice claims and insolvency-related litigation, including liquidation proceedings. He has experience in matters involving the interpretation, enforcement and breach of contractual obligations, as well as disputes requiring detailed consideration of liability, damages and the applicable legal principles.
Within banking and property litigation, Adv. Speelman has practical experience in summary judgment applications relating to the repossession of immovable property, as well as opposed and unopposed motion proceedings under Uniform Rules 46 and 46A, including matters concerning execution against immovable property and sales in execution. His practice further encompasses PAJA review applications, intergovernmental disputes and labour-law disputes, providing practical experience in litigation arising from employment relationships and workplace-related legal issues.
Adv. Speelman holds a Bachelor of Education degree and an LLB and is currently pursuing an LLM at the University of Pretoria, with particular academic interests in Insolvency Law, Contract Law and Competition Law. His academic pursuits complement his practical experience and continuing development at the Bar.
