JJ grew up in Hartesbeespoortdam and after completing his Matric at Afrikaanse Hoer Seunsskool he obtained his LLB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2016.

Thereafter he served his articles at Strydom & Bredenkamp focusing mainly on Commercial and Insolvency Law. After completing his articles and passing the attorneys admissions exams he took up the position of BEE-auditor at a verification agency.  In 2019 he commenced his pupillage at the Mpumalanga Society of Advocates and joined the Society after the successful completion of the training course.

He divides his time between practicing in Pretoria and in Mbombela and Middelburg with a focus mainly in Criminal & Commercial law as well as Civil Litigation and family law.
